Here's a little history for y'all. The Avengers were assembles by S.H.I.E.L.D when Loki invaded Earth and they disassembled and went their seperate ways after that.

Soon after, Stark remodled Stark Tower into Avengers Tower and the team joined to fight HYDRA. Stark then built the AI known as Ultron to protect the world but it ended up doing the exact opposite and starting a war against the human race. Ultron appeared and was defeated in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), this movie also brought Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver into the MCU.
